Opening concert of the Vierdag organ

On Sunday afternoon, June 29 at 3.30 PM, the official inauguration of the Vierdag organ will take place in the Grote Kerk Breda.
During the restoration of the Hillen organ, this replacement organ will take over the tasks in the organ programming of the Grote Kerk Breda.
Vierdag organ
Built in 1971 for the Open Hofkerk in Rotterdam-Pendrecht by organ builder Henk Vierdag, the organ has now been given a temporary place in the high choir of the Grote Kerk Breda.
The instrument is one of the highlights from the period of Reconstruction in organ building and was installed by organ builders Elbertse & Van Vulpen in Breda.
The purchase and installation of the Vierdag organ for the Grote Kerk Breda was made possible by a generous gift from an anonym donor.

Program
During the opening concert, Aart Bergwerff, organist of the Grote Kerk Breda, will play a festive program, together with soprano Elke Janssens and trumpeter Sander Kintaert.
The program includes music by Bach, Handel, Scarlatti and Purcell. In addition, a work by Jacques van Oortmerssen (1950-2015), initiator and organist of the Vierdag organ in Rotterdam.
Afterwards, we toast to the resounding result of the organ!
