Hannes Minnaar and the Netherlands Bach Consort bring Bach’s Organ Mass to life with 10 newly set haiku.

Hannes Minnaar, the Netherlands Bach Consort, composition students from the ArtEZ Conservatoire and poet Jan-Jaap Stegeman come together around Bach’s greatest organ work, the *Dritter Teil der Klavierübung*. The timeless music of Bach’s chorales inspired poet Jan-Jaap Stegeman to write ten haiku. These haiku were subsequently set to music by ArtEZ composition students from Canada, Curaçao, Egypt, Iran and the Netherlands. Drawing on their cultural backgrounds, they breathe new musical life into Bach’s legacy, performed by the Netherlands Bach Consort.

Tradition and innovation embrace one another in this concert featuring Bach’s unrivalled organ music in all its facets: profound, tranquil, overwhelming and, above all, brilliant.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The concert will take place in the intimate setting of the choir of the Grote Kerk, amongst the centuries-old choir stalls and close to the stage. These ‘adventure seats’ make the concert not only audible but also visible and tangible. However, there is a limited number of seats in the choir, which must also accommodate the nine performers.
