Program René! I'm Still Standing
With the exhibition René! I'm Still Standing, the Grote Kerk Breda opens a conversation about the role that art and music can play in dealing with emotions and how they can offer new perspectives or even a way out.
The organised activities focus on young people and anyone who is young at heart. They provide more information about the exhibition, create a moment of peace and space for yourself, or delve deeper into relevant topics.
Music tour Pepijn Lanen
In the most precious and vulnerable moments, both art and music offer guidance to deal with these feelings. As the title of the exhibition suggests, music also plays a role in the presentation. Guest editor Pepijn Lanen, also known as Faberyayo from the rap group De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, selects a piece of music for each artwork that complements the emotion or story of the work. You can view the selected songs, along with Pepijn's explanations of his choices, in the accompanying music tour.
Scan the QR codes next to the artworks in the exhibition and start the tour.
GLOWING IN THE DARK NIGHTS
DATES & TIMES
Come along during one of the atmospheric Glowing in the Dark Friday evenings, when the Grote Kerk Breda is open until 7 p.m. The exhibition René! I’m Still Standing – About love and loss is a completely different experience in the twilight. The church is softly lit and a number of the artworks contain fluorescent or reflective materials, causing them to glow in the dark.
Lying-down concert
Would you like to relax and dream away to recognisable, soothing organ and piano sounds during a minimalist neo-classical lying concert®? On Sunday morning 8 feb, Aart Bergwerff (organ) and Jeroen van Veen (piano) and Aart Bergwerff (organ) will perform live in the Grote Kerk Breda.
Make it a full day

Willem - The price of freedom
Stedelijk Museum Breda
Willem – The Price of Freedom revisits the story of the Father of the Nation: from his death in Delft to the start of the uprising in Breda. A poignant tale of murder, resistance and conflict. The price of freedom: then for William of Orange – now still for many around the world.
