Program René! I'm Still Standing

Grote Kerk 10 10 2025 337

With the exhibition René! I'm Still Standing, the Grote Kerk Breda opens a conversation about the role that art and music can play in dealing with emotions and how they can offer new perspectives or even a way out.

The organised activities focus on young people and anyone who is young at heart. They provide more information about the exhibition, create a moment of peace and space for yourself, or delve deeper into relevant topics.

Music tour Pepijn Lanen

In the most precious and vulnerable moments, both art and music offer guidance to deal with these feelings. As the title of the exhibition suggests, music also plays a role in the presentation. Guest editor Pepijn Lanen, also known as Faberyayo from the rap group De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, selects a piece of music for each artwork that complements the emotion or story of the work. You can view the selected songs, along with Pepijn's explanations of his choices, in the accompanying music tour.

You can see the statue that Anna, his wife, had made to commemorate René. You can also view works of art about feelings that everyone experiences at some point, such as love, loneliness and sadness.

René has hidden a secret message in the exhibition especially for you! Will you join us in the search? Use your torch to explore the artworks and crack the code.

The treasure hunt is available at the reception desk for €3.50 per hunt, including a little light.

The Offline Club

30 NOV

This is your chance to disconnect from screens and the daily hustle and bustle. And to meet like-minded people. During the René! I'm Still Standing – About love and loss exhibition and to conclude the TURF event, the Grote Kerk Breda will be transformed into a “Digital Detox Dome” for one morning, where you can escape from your phone and diary. Where time passes more slowly. Where people are open to contact and where you can really focus on yourself.
